What Is The Best Way To Get Fit At Home?

Whether it’s the middle of winter and you’re trapped inside your house, have a busy schedule and can’t make time to go to the gym, you don’t feel comfortable going to a gym, or just simply don’t want to get a gym membership, there are three items to make getting you in your best shape from the comfort of your own home a possibility.  There is no reason why you cannot be in shape and healthy, the choice is yours!

These three factors will set you up for success as long as you stay consistent and disciplined:

  1. Goal Orientation
  2. Diet
  3. Good Workout Routine

Goal Orientation

Decide today what your goal is. Is it to lose weight? Is it to get stronger? Is it to increase your athleticism? If your goal is to lose weight, pick a specific weight you want to be at, ex I want to be at 140 pounds.  Don’t focus on the weight you have to lose by saying to yourself “I need to lose 50 lbs”.  When you focus on something negative you quickly lose motivation to continue the efforts, and this is when people stop caring and get stuck in a rut.  Our objective here is to maintain motivation and focus to get you to that goal!  Focus on what you’ve accomplished so far and that light at the end of the tunnel!  Follow this same mindset for whatever your goal may be: what you’ve achieved so far, and the finish line!

Diet

You can’t get fit without a proper diet, period. It doesn’t matter if you go to the gym, play a sport, or live an active lifestyle, if you feed yourself junk then you are inhibiting the full potential of your abilities. It is said you are what you eat, if you only eat junk food what does that make you? Make your own meals that consist of whole foods: Proteins (Eggs, Chicken Breast, Fish), Fats (Olive Oil, Coconut Oil, Avocados), Carbohydrates (Oatmeal, Potatoes, Quinoa, Rice), Fruits and TONS OF Vegetables, and in the proper caloric quantities (This is based on your weight, age, activity levels, etc…there are great daily caloric requirement calculator apps that decide how many calories you need in a day to achieve your goal such as myfitnesspal).  A good rule of thumb is to take one food from each category.

EX: Chicken + Olive Oil (Drizzled) + Potatoes + Kale = a wholesome meal!

Good Workout Routine

Being active is the other piece to the puzzle, and unfortunately a lot of people lose motivation quickly with exercising; it’s hard, you have to make time to do it, and it could be expensive.  Visit the Free Workout Generator, on our homepage, and have access to over 150 trillion free workout routines. Choose “At Home”, “Body Weight”, or “Tabata” from the drop down menu located under “Choose Workout Style”.  While we can’t promise they will be easy, most of these workouts will take less than a half hour!  If you get bored with a workout you can choose from the trillions of others, and the best part is you won’t have to leave your home or pay a gym membership to do them!

What to take away:

  • Stay Focused: Choose a goal.  Focus on what you’ve achieved so far, and the finish line.
  • Eat Clean: Remember proteins, fats, carbohydrates, fruits, and vegetables.
  • Use a Calorie Counter: Know the amount of calories you need in a day.
  • Stay Motivated: Don’t keep doing stale workout routines, choose from the trillions of free ones we provide!

Give this process a couple of weeks before you start to see real results.  Don’t be discouraged if you lose a lot of weight quickly and then nothing, this means you need to make your workouts a little more challenging and intense.  You can make a workout more challenging by using a heavier weight to perform the reps.  For the timed workouts, increase the intensity by pushing yourself to perform more reps in the prescribed amount of time.  If you follow all of these steps with discipline and consistency you will see results.  Trust the process, and never give up hope.  Only you can prevent improvement.

Focus on what you’ve accomplished so far and that light at the end of the tunnel!
