Will Going Beltless For Heavy Deadlifts Work My Abs More?

If you are anywhere near your one rep max, proceed with caution.  Yes, it can be argued that you don’t need a belt with a strong core. However, when you approach your strength limits, 1–3 reps, then ALL of your weakness WILL show; and I don’t want my weaknesses exposed while lifting 500 lbs…that’s too dangerous to risk. Wear a belt, and strengthen your core with planks, sit ups, flutter kicks, and hanging knee raises.

Good luck, and always listen to your body!
