No, this is not a gimmick. No, there are no dangerous drugs involved. No, this is not from starvation or, by inducing some sort of rapid ejection…if you know what I mean. This is probably the safest and most scientific method to shedding off weight fast, at least that’s what I tell myself. Hope it helps!
I’ve been eating clean and working out regularly (6 - 7 times per week) for nearly a decade now, and I’ve noticed that there is a trend to how my weight fluctuates throughout the week. Using myself as an example, my “Cheat Day” (the day I have no dietary restrictions - and is also my rest day now, meaning no gym) is on Sundays. I eat pretty bad and don’t exercise, and come Monday morning I’m usually 10 lbs (4.5 kg) heavier. By the middle of the week, and after a few good gym sessions, I’ve dropped that 10 lbs. This weight that I’ve dropped is what we call “water weight”. Water weight is generally the excess weight that you accumulate around your mid section, arms, and legs, making you appear puffy; and is what I believe is the key to quickly shedding off some weight.
So, when considering dropping water weight to be the fastest way to lose body weight here are:
Three Tips For Shedding Weight Fast
Switch Salts
Your body stores this water easily when you’re diet consists of poor salts, such as table salts with caking agents. What do I do? The day after my cheat meal I would consume potassium salt; you can find it in the store look for something like Salt Substitute and it is simply Potassium Chloride instead of Sodium Chloride. In your body, Potassium and Sodium take part in an Osmotic Ballet, where higher concentrations of one causes the opposite to be pulled out or in your cells. When you consume higher levels (not too high) of Potassium you’re pulling out Sodium…which takes the water out of the cells with it. Quick, cheap trick.
Drink MORE Water
Counter intuitive, no? Well not if you understand the physiological process behind Water Weight. One easy concept is to think of the Camel. Camels store water, right? As kids we were always shown depictions of the camels humps being nothing but water towers (My first thought still to this day), but why do they store water? It is a preparation mechanism for anticipation of having no water (living in the desert). So, this same function is the same for us. Our bodies are storing water as a preparation measure for dehydration…usually caused by consuming too much NaCl. Drink lots MORE water than you are now.
Exercise
You need to move big muscles and you need to sweat. Following this combination I can lose 10 lbs of water weight after one gym session - no joke. If you need motivation to do this I suggest you grab a workout routine from our Free Workout Generator, and get a good workout in; also, check out our Topics Page for tons of motivating articles to teach you more about fitness stuff.
For most people, it is either water weight or excessive calorie consumption that would be the primary causes for weight gain. Both of these cases can be reversed, losing water weight is faster.
