Well wouldn’t this be nice. Sitting on the couch, watching TV, eating potato chips and losing weight? Only if, but of course that’s not how this works. If you want to lose stored energy aka FAT, you’ll have to burn it. Read on…
One of the key functions of body fat is to be used as stored energy. Now, if you don’t live an active lifestyle the body fat doesn’t have a need to be used. Remember, body fat is a SURVIVAL response. It’s what bears use to make it through hibernation, it’s what whales have thick layers of to survive cold waters, and it’s what we have in times of famine (long ago). In other words, to burn belly fat requires REAL effort. You won’t burn it sitting on the couch, unless you are starving yourself by eating significantly less calories per day, doing this you risk other aspects of your health (poor hair/ nails, no energy, poor health, no drive)…you will be miserable.
Unless there is something physically inhibiting you from exercising, for your sake we would strongly encourage you to consider being active. You don’t have to go to the gym, just find an activity that you would enjoy (Bike riding, hiking, swimming, etc.)
