Depending when you’re reading this, it may or may not be the beginning of the year. If it is, happy new year and it’s time for a new you! If it’s not, well, it’s never too late to start! Either way, let’s get to work!
The best way to get on a daily exercise regimen is to find something that you’re interested in. It doesn’t have to be going to the gym, if your goal and interests revolve around bodybuilding then yes by all means! However, if you are more interested in a particular sport (Tennis, Basketball, Soccer, etc.) or activity (hiking, biking, climbing) practice the fundamentals and go to the gym to focus on strengthening certain aspects to that sport. As you improve join a league and competition will motivate you to stay active.
That is the key: Let Competition Be Your Motivation.
Once you get to that point where you’re competing with others you’ll be addicted to ways you can gain competitive advantage! Just like collecting all of the pokemon.
Now, let’s say you’re not interested in a sport or activity and are just going to the gym to lose weight. In this case motivation will be tough. The best advice here is to not let your routine become, well, routine. A stale workout can put you on the fast track to not working out. Everyone starts off going to the gym highly motivated, but if they’re doing the same routine every day or are going in to the gym with no idea what to workout at all, by day 3 they start to question and fall off the wagon. Don’t let that be you. Use our workout generator to choose from over 150 trillion workout routines. Take advantage of this free service, because going to the gym not knowing what to do is just as bad as doing the same routine over and over. As far as timelines for seeing improvements, that all depends on you.
Diet Is The Other Half Of The Equation
Diet will play a huge role, be sure each meal revolves around eating good sources of protein, fat, and carbohydrates. Good sources of proteins include fish like salmon, chicken breasts, turkey, and beef (all organic or grass-fed if possible). Good sources of fat include avocados, olive oil, coconut oil, and various nuts. Good sources of carbohydrates include potatoes (all varieties), brown rice, various beans, quinoa, oatmeal, and coconut flour. Round out your diet with plenty of fruits and vegetables to get in your necessary amounts of fiber, vitamins, and minerals. By no means does dieting need to be bland and boring. There are plenty of ways to make food appetizing; honestly the best way is to remove artificial sweeteners from your diet.
That’s it, there is no one that will force you to be active, you need to dig down and listen to your heart and if it feels right you have to keep with it!
Good luck on your journey!
