Top 5 Common Beginner Workout Mistakes

We’ve all been there; you get an instant jolt of motivation to workout and get in shape, and then you lose all hope just as fast as the motivation came on.  However, while the motivation and drive may fizzle away for some, let those who have made it to the other side give you the pointers and hurdles to look out for to allow you to successfully bridge the gap from where you are now to what you want to become.  Below are the five most common mistakes to look out for.

1.  They Set An Objective

The one thing you need to realize is that fitness is not a means to achieving a goal, but rather a lifestyle change. You don’t say “I’ll workout until I lose 20 lbs and then stop” No, for this to work or have any lasting effects you need to get to a point where your decisions throughout the day are for the benefit of your fitness efforts, including: Diet (what you eat), Exercise (being active vs. sedentary), and Rest (allowing yourself to recover)

2.  Going Too Hard Too Soon

This is probably the most devastating of all the factors. I see it all the time, people get super excited and motivated when they first start working out. They abruptly change their schedule by getting up an hour earlier, running 3 miles in the morning, eating a ridiculous diet that their body is not used to, and perform crazy exercises for a long duration of time; all in an effort of thinking this will speed up time to seeing results. Wrong, the only thing that will speed up is the time it takes for you to quit.

3.  People Don’t Know What To Do So They Quit

A lot of people walk into the gym or are sitting at home really wanting to get in shape but are completely clueless as to how go about doing it. They wander around the gym using random machines and doing exercises that they may be familiar with (Bench Press and Bicep Curls) and that’s it. People at home without gym memberships have it even worse, they don’t have any equipment and need to be creative with something they aren’t even comfortable with. It is for these reasons, and these people, that we’ve created a Free Workout Generator that has over 150 trillion free workout routines including Muscle Group Isolation Days, At Home, Body weight, and HIIT workouts.

4.  Supplements Are The Answer

This is simply not the case. Sure some may help, but for the most part they are all marketing ploys that feed into your emotions of “getting results as soon as possible” The theme of this answer is: fitness is a journey, you can’t take short cuts in life. This is something that will take time and it will take effort, don’t be discouraged if in two weeks you don’t see results. It is a process, one that is unique to every single person.

5.  Crazy Diets Are The Answer

Calorie Restrictions, Fad Diets, and prepared meals are the quickest ways to put on excessive weight. Diet is something that is probably the most routine for you and the most connected to pleasure sensors in your brain. By abruptly changing this “input” in such an exaggerated manner will only lead to binge eating; which will lead to accelerated weight gain.

Achieving a better physique, improving strength, or achieving any goal requires discipline, dedication, and determination.

Discipline

Inside and outside the gym you are making thoughtful decisions that are directed towards your fitness efforts; referring to diet, as well as a consistent gym schedule.

Dedication

To be successful with your effort you must understand sacrifice and risk. Things you enjoy doing but aren’t in congruence with your efforts must be sacrificed. You must also take risks by stepping out of your comfort zone if it means bringing you one step closer to your goal.

Determination

No matter how tough things are, or, no matter how you look and feel now, you are improving. You are one step closer to your ideal physique. Be conscious of your diet decisions and keep a consistent gym schedule, you will achieve your goals.

Follow this mindset with in any goal you set for yourself in life and you will be successful. Believe in yourself.
